This series of posters is a personal project meant to represent the artists depicted, as well as their style. While they all fall into the rap/hip hop genre of music, they all have different sounds and flow. XXX-Tentacion’s music often has themes of sadnessand depression, so I chose to showcase him in darkness.
I feel having a pointy typeface represents the edginess of his lyrics. Playboi Carti’s music is usually calm and mellow, almost meant to entrance the listener. I was inspired by one of his more popular albums, Whole Lotta Red, released in 2020. I primarily used the color red in referenceto his album. The stars in the back further emphasize a trance state while listening. Ice Spice is a more recent and popular artist. She has mostly single releases, some of which sample songs from the past. She also collaborates with popular artists like Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj to create original music, which is where she gained her popularity. I used orange to represent the artist herself, and pink to represent her music. The typeface is meant to show a sense of elegance and luxury.
